(Revised 2-24--92)
ATTACHMENT TO INITIAL STUDY FOR SII-92--8
1. WATER `
+ Little Bear Creek, a tributary to Bear Creek, flows through the
I northern portion of this site. Although FEMA flood maps indicate
!, zone C, not within the ' 100 or 500 year flood hazard, it appears
that the Federal Emergency Management Agency did not conduct any
flood studies on Bear Creek east of Jack Tone Road. Therefore, in
order to preclude any structures from being constructed within the
flood plain of the 1.00-year flood of Little Bear Creek, the San
Joaquin County Flood Control & Water Conservation District is
requesting that the final map indicate the boundaries of the 100-
year flood. L
F 3 . PLANT AND ANIMAL LIFE
M
The tentative map indicates the locations of Heritage Oaks, vernal
pools and Little Bear Creek. An unmapped pond also exists along
the creek between lots -2` and 5. After a survey of the property,
the Department of Fish and Game made the following recommendations:
The DFG recommends ' the following mitigation measures be
incorporated into the Vesting TM:
a. All the oak trees be protected. No soil disturbance or
compaction be allowed within 30 feet of the dripline of
each tree.
b. A 50-foot natural setback buffer be established on each
side of the stream.
C. A 100-foot natural setback buffer be established around
the pond.
' d. The vernal pools in lots 7, 8, 13, and 16 and a 50-foot
' buffer around them should be designated as "Open Space"
Initial. Study (Rev:01/91)
9
