A R and M E Glover
7675 W.Eleventh Street
Page 2of2
On 12 January 2004, EHD discussed your site with Mr. James Barton of the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB). EHD and
CVRWQCH agreed closure consideration for the site would be given if:
• The monitoring event yielded favorable results with no 1,2-DCA or EDB
problem apparent;
• The vertical extent of impacted ground water is demonstrated; and
• It is shown that impacted ground water is not migrating between MW-4 and
MW-5.
The results of the 12 January 2003 ground water monitoring event show that"1,2-
DCA and EDB were not detected at or above 2.0 µg/I; however, this reporting limit
exceeds the MCLS of 0.5 µg/I for 1,2-DCA and 0.05 µg/I for EDB. CVRWQCB
recommended having the laboratory that performed the last two rounds of
analyses review the data and determine if the reporting limit could be lowered to
0.5 µg/I for the two compounds.
Please submit a work plan to assess ground water between MW-4 and MW-5 and
the vertical extent of impacted ground water in the immediate area of the former
UST/dispenser facility. Grab water samples will be suitable. EHD recommends
collecting water samples from the sand interval commonly present on the site at
15 feet bsg between MW-4 and MW-5, and from the next lower lithologic, unit of
significant permeability immediately down-gradient of the suspected release point.
If you have any questions or comments you may contact Nuel Henderson at
(209) 468-3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Nuel C.
