Past Uses of the Site
Based on information reviewed for the Surface & Subsurface Contamination Report
(Live Oak, 2013), the Site has been used for cattle grazing since 1937 or earlier. Most /
structures on the Site also date to 1937or earlier: the smaller house was moved to the
site in 2005 or 2006.
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
According to the tentative parcel map (Monte Seibel, 2013), two septic systems exist on ! )
the Site, one to serve each residence.
Proposed Septic System
According to Mr. Zicari, no new construction is planned for the Site at this time.
However, County regulations permit a second dwelling unit to be placed on each parcel
at some point in the future. Any new residence would utilize a new septic system.
On-Site Septic Permit History
Two permits related to septic systems for the Site addresses were identified at the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
• October 1998 permit for repair to residential septic system. The system utilizes a
1 ,600-gallon septic tank, two 60-foot leach lines, one 42-inch diameter by 25-foot
deep seepage pit, and three 2- by 14- by 10-foot deep sumps. Two old septic
tanks were destroyed (21411 Cord, main house). This permit is a redraw of a
similar permit that omits the sumps.
• April 2009 permit for new residential septic system. The system utilizes a 1,200-
gallon septic tank, three 40-foot leach lines, and three 36-inch diameter by 25-
foot deep seepage pits (21387 Cord; smaller house).
These permits are included in Appendix 4
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist within approximately four square miles surrounding the property. Air
photo imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that three or
more septic systems per square mile are present in the vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of open, grazing land; a gravel quarry is located to the south.
nr_F 111911 Paae 2
