--------------------
With regard to the potential for bioremediation occurring at the site, nitrate, sulfate and total
alkalinity levels do not indicate a clear pattern consistent with the distribution of petroleum
hydrocarbons present in the wells. However, the March 1997 data indicates that within the plume
dissolved oxygen levels decrease, carbon dioxide levels have increased, and Eh readings are
positive (indicating aerobic respiration). These trends indicate bioremediation is occurring in
aerobic and anaerobic (possibly due to depletion of oxygen) environments. This can be verified
with further groundwater monitoring at the site.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this matter please contact our office.
Respectfully, rti r
Smith Technology Corporation 0 , .S3S1't;,i;,.
9-&
 !1
Jeanne Homsey, P.E. c 'NL;Q.
