-Chevron 9-4054
2103 Country Club Blvd., Stockton. page 2
not contain concentrations of chemical constituents in excess of the maximum
° concentration levels (MCLs) specified in the provisions of Title 22 of the California Code
f of Regulations, Section 64444.5." Your CAP groundwater clean up goalslobjectives
must conform to MCLs.
i
After a diligent effort has been made by continued SVE/AS remedial activities and the
concentrations of petroleum in the groundwater have not reached the MCLs, PHS-EHD
will evaluate conclusions reached by your consultant as to why these levels are
unobtainable.
i
The groundwater gradient direction has shifted to the south at this site as noted in the
{ most recent Quarterly Monitoring Report, "2"" Quarter 1998". On May 20, 1998
monitoring wells #8 and #5 have recorded the highest petroleum concentrations in the
history of these wells. If this gradient direction continues, the site does not have a
down-gradient monitoring well that delineates the groundwater petroleum plume.
Additional monitoring wells may be required. In addition, only two of the twelve
monitoring wells for this site have screened intervals that are not "drowned" by the
current groundwater level at this site. If this "drowned" condition continues, additional
monitoring wells will be required and installed so that the depth to groundwater falls
within the screened interval of the monitoring well casing.
The CAP is approved with the above noted conditions. Please submit a time
fj schedule by September 21, 1998 that shows the dates all site activities will begin
and end. You may contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any
questions or wish to schedule a field inspection.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division `
J
Michael J.
