may.
C;
groundwater samples collected from wells MW-2 and MW-3 contained benzene at concentrations
that exceeded the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 1.0 micrograms per liter (µg/1). All of
the other constituents were reported well below their respective MCLS. MTBE was detected in
the groundwater samples collected from wells MW-1 through MW-5. Only the groundwater
sample collected from well MW-2 contained MTBE at a concentration that exceeded the MCL of
5.0 micrograms per liter (µg/1). Groundwater analytical results are summarized in Table 2. The
laboratory analytical reports are included in Attachment 2.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The laboratory analytical results of the groundwater samples collected on November 18, 2004, are
generally consistent with recent historical results. The concentrations of COCl detected in the
sample collected from MW-2 decreased and the concentrations of COCs detected in the sample
collected from MW-3 increased with respect to the previous sampling event but remained within
the range of historical results. The groundwater elevation has decreased on an average of 0.44
feet. The groundwater gradient direction is consistent with previous sampling events. Based on
recent groundwater quality data associated with groundwater samples collected from the site,
ATC recommends to continue quarterly groundwater monitoring during the first quarter 2005.
s:\Environmenta1117861\reports\4gmr2004.doe 4 ATC Associates Inc.
4
