Results of this quarter's laboratory analysis of groundwater samples from monitoring wells MW=
1, MW-2 and NM-3 indicate the presence 'of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater in
monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3. TPHg and BTEX concentrations in well MW-2. were
detected at the lowest concentrations since monitoring was initiated. However, in well MW-3,
concentrations of TPHg and BTEX were similar to the 'previous quarter. No .petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected in monitoring well MW-1.
CONCLUSIONS
+ Based on the results of this quarterly monitoring and sampling, Smith Environmental recommends
continued groundwater monitoring and sampling of wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 in order to
detect changes ingroundwaterquality beneath the site.
FUTURE WORK
During the third quarter 1996 pending PHS/EHD approval,Smith Environmental will conduct an
additional subsurface investigation in order to delineate the horizontal and vertical extent of
f petroleum hydrocarbon contamination present in the soil and groundwater on-site in the vicinity
of and downgradient from the locations of the-former gasoline underground storage tanks
(UM). In addition, the investigation is to provide soil, soil ;gas and groundwater data for
determining remediation alternatives, specifically natural attenuation. In addition, -disposal of
purgewater and treatment or disposal of soil cuttings stored on-site in 55-gallon drums will be
conducted.
i
1
+
i
i
w:195122\2QMR1996.doc
i
SMTN
