The front
portion of the real property is reported to have been used to
store and work on automobiles commencing in 1952. This property
has been reported to have been an automobile wrecking and/or junk
yard from 1975 to 1990 . The site, reportedly, was used from
approximately 1989 by Capitol Auto Wrecking, an automobile
wrecking yard and Town and Country Tire Service, a tire service
facility.
The site of approximately 4. 9 acres currently has a wooden truss
manufacturing facility on it and is located in the
topographically flat, commercial/residential area of eastern.
Tracy. There are two buildings on site each being approximately
3 , 000 square feet in area. One building is a one story cinder
block structure with a concrete floor and the other a wood framed
building with corrugated steel siding on a concrete pad. This
site also had a water supply well with pump, which was not
functioning. Figure 1 is a site location map.
An Underground Storage Tank (UST) was removed from this site on
July 19 , 1996 . The 350 gallon tank reportedly was an unleaded
gasoline UST. Figure 2 is a plan of the subject property.
Soil samples collected from the bottom of the excavation at the
time of the UST removal were analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHG) ; Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene
1
