All the soil samples which were analyzed for the Oxygenates had
no detectable concentrations of the Oxygenates, the detectable
limit are noted on the Laboratory Data Sheets. The Laboratory
Data Sheets with Chain of Custody are contained in Appendix C.
:. SUMKARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The soil in the upper five feet have minor concentrations of
hydrocarbon contamination. No detectable contamination for the
Oxygenates was found in the analyzed soil samples. This
hydrocarbon contamination most likely is from the prior use of
the property as an automobile dismantling and wrecking operation
and not from the former UST.
The groundwater had less than 1 ppm TPHG and 20 ppb Benzene
contamination. The groundwater sample from MW--3 had 5.6 ppb of
MTBE contamination. The remaining groundwater samples had no
detectable concentrations, ie < 5 ppb, of oxygenates.
The calculated groundwater gradient is N22°W or 338° .
=a
JPCA recommends that it maybe prudent to remove the first five
feet of soil from the former UST area as a precaution.
E;
`A JPCA further recommends four quarters of groundwater sampling and
gradient determinations. After the four quarters of data have
been compiled and analyzed, closure of the site file may be
E s possible.
This report has been prepared specifically for Edward P. Smith,
= CFO Piedmont Lumber Co. , with specific application to a hazardous
waste investigation. The report has been prepared with the care
and skill generally exercised by reputable professionals, under
similar circumstances in this or similar localities. No other
` warranty, either expressed or implied, is made as to the
professional advice presented.
A copy of this report is being mailed to Bruce Askansas, REHS,
SJCEHD, in accordance with the conditions required for a well
permit application in San Joaquin County.
ai
Sincerely,
C-
:I
ohn P.
