Eleventh Street
Tracy, California 95376
Subject: Phase II Environmental Site Assessment for Real Property Located at 7777
W. Eleventh Street, Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Marstall:
In accordance with the authorized Proposed Scope of Work and Estimated Budget dated
April 1, 1996, Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation is submitting this summary
report. This report summarizes field methodologies and analytical findings associated with
.: the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) conducted at the above referenced
site.
Analytical results of soil samples collected at the site indicate that there is an area of
petroleum contaminated surface soil adjacent and north of the concrete slab and in the I
and J grid sections. Based upon field observations and analytical results of soil samples
collected during the investigation, it appears that these surface spills are minor and limited,
as only low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in two to three of
the grid sections. Smith Environmental recommends that this report be forwarded to San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) for
review and comment. Since the soil adjacent to the concrete slab contains the hazardous
substance benzene, Smith Environmental also recommends excavation of the contaminated
soil adjacent to the concrete slab, and sampling the native soil below, after the
contaminated soil is removed.
It may be most cost effective to conduct this soil removal during the proposed scraping of
j the surface soil on-site, using the scraping equipment. At the time of the proposed soil
scraping, Smith Environmental recommends that an environmental professional inspect the
underlying soil for any areas of additional petroleum contamination in order to excavate
the soil at that time and collect confirmation soil samples to ensure that all impacted soil
has been removed.
i
1260 Graphics Drive Modesto,"CA 95351-1502 (209)579-2221 Fax(209)579-2225
a
' W:ICORRESPICO`JLET.cTocgineering Consulting • Remediation Construction
