(Wright) has completed the work for the Quarterly
Groundwater Monitoring Report at the above referenced site located at 8111 West Eleventh
Street, Tracy, California (see Figure 1). The purpose of this work is to provide quarterly
groundwater monitoring as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Division (SJC EHD). The sampling for the third quarter 2004 is for well MW-3 only;
water levels were measured in all three monitoring wells.
1.0 Field Methods
Groundwater Monitoring Well Sampling
The well was sampled on September 20, 2004 by a sampling contractor; the monitoring
schedule only has MW-3 for chemical analysis his quarter. The monitoring well was
purged using calculated well volumes based upon the depth to water in each casing. Depth
to groundwater measurements were made to the nearest one-one hundredth of one foot, and
also checked for the presence of separate phase product. As each purge volume is removed,
measurements of pH, electrical conductivity and temperature were taken until these
parameters stabilize, which is interpreted to be aquifer water entering the casing. The well
was allowed to recover to 80% of the initially measured water level, and then samples were
collected. The sample was carefully collected with a clean bailer and poured into the
appropriate laboratory prepared container with minimum cavitation. Each water sample was
labeled, logged onto a chain-of-custody form, and placed in a chilled ice chest. Upon
completion of well sampling, the well was closed and locked.
Table 1.
