The soil is currently
stockpiled at Western Stone Products' Tracy facility in San Joaquin County (Figure 1). Western
Stone Products proposes to dispose of the soil by transporting it to Western Stone'Products'
Hughson facility in Stanislaus County, processing it through their asphalt batch plant"and using
it as roadbase.
Excavation activities were conducted in October 1992. Excavated soil was stockpiled on-site;
the location of the stockpiled 'soil, the estimated volume in each pile, and the soil pile sampling
locations are depicted on Figure 2. Two soil samples were collected from each 50 cubic yards
of soil, composited by a state-certified laboratory and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons
as diesel (TPHd) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). Laboratory results
indicated the following: TPHd concentrations ranged from 2.6 to 25 parts per million (ppm)
with an average of 10.38 ppm; benzene concentrations ranged from non detect (ND, <0.005)
to 0.015 ppm with an average of 0.006 ppm; toluene concentrations ranged from ND'', <0.005
to 0.12 ppm with an average of 0.024 ppm; and, xylene concentrations ranged from ND,
<0.005 to 0.30 ppm with an average of 0.054 ppm. Results are shown in Table 1 and
laboratory reports are contained in Attachment 1.
k
L-100193.FNL
 I
i
_ a
