1 product line locations, The wells will be constructed
of two inch diameter F480 PVC screen/casing and
completed as shown on Figure 3.
2. Drill cuttings will be logged continuously for
„•r characterization of contamination and so- .L type by the
Unified Soil Classification System. Descriptions of
soils encountered and monitoring well construction
details will be recorded on a boring/well log and
included within the assessment report (Figure 4) . Drive
soil samples will be collected above the water table at
five foot intervals beginning at ten feet and below the
water table at select intervals for determination of
soil type. Two samples from each boring will be
selected for analysis. Soil sampling will be conducted
in accordance with WaterWork's Soil Sampling Protocol
(Appendix II ) . Laboratory analysis of soil samples will
be conducted for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene,
xylenes ( BTEX ) , and total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel TPS by EPA method 8015/8020. Sequoia
Analytical, a state certified hazardous waste
laboratory, will perform the analysis. All excavated
soils will be placed on plastic sheeting, covered with
same and remain on site until laboratory results are
received . Thereafter, a proposal fcr treatment or
disposal of the excavated material will be prepared.
3. The wellheads will be surveyed to a common datum and
groundwater levels will be monitored to determine the
site specific groundwater gradient . Free product
thickness, if any, will be monitored using an interface
probe. The monitoring will be conducted in accordance
with WaterWork' s Groundwater Monitoring Protocol
(Appendix II) .
4. Subsequent to installation, water samples will be
collected from the monitoring wells after purging a
minimum of four well volumes (casing and sand pack) .
Wells will be pumped until water pS, electrical
conductivity and temperature have stabilized. The
purged water will remain on site, in secured 55 gallon
drums (DOT 17-E) until laboratory results are received.
A proposal for the treatment or disposal of the water
produced during well development and sampling will then
be prepared. Collection and preservation of all water
samples will be in accordance with EPA protocol .
Specific sampling procedures are outlined in WaterWork's
Groundwater Sampling Protocol (Appendix II ) . The water
samples will be analyzed by Sequoia Analytical for BTEX,
and TPH as diesel by approved EPA methods 8015/8020.
5. All site activities involving potential contact with
hazardous materials (i.e. gasoline contaminated soils)
will be conducted in accordance with WaterWork' s Site
Health and Safety Plan (Appendix III ) .
3
a
