1
fie
Ms. Laurie A. Cotulla
May 8, 1991
- Page Three ,
have no observable effect on V,3 gradient of the shallow aquifer
that is the subject of investigation at this site. The disposi-
tion of the production wells is beyond the scope of this
investi-gation.
4) We will identify the leach lines and provide you with a map
showing their location.
t
In conclusion, although low levels of petroleum hydrocarbon
constituents may be present in soils within the capillary fringe
in the area of former tank #3, this has had no deleterious effect
on groundwater quality. Petroleum hydrocarbon constituents in
groundwater within the four monitoring wells located on-site,
t including MW-4 immediately downgradient of the former tank pit,
have been only sporadically detected over a period of one and one
half years of monitoring and have remained several orders of
magnitude below State MCLS. The single exception to this was the
initial sample collected from MW-4 on 5/22/90. Subsequent sam-
pling and analysis has shown that the sample was not representa-
tive of undisturbed groundwater.
rte,,
Subsurface investigation and groundwater monitoring have satis- i
factorally demonstrated that the waters of the State have not
been adversly affected at this site. Case closure is recommend-
ed.
Please direct your questions or comments to the undersigned. We
are anticipating your prompt response in concurrence with our
recommendations.
i
Respectfully,
WaterWork 12,
Gregory P. Stahl,
Project Geologist
uta tti. k,q*
Nora H. Kataoka,
i CA Registered Civil Engineer No. 38322
cc Bill Keller `
CRWQCB
a
