(.W) _ Page 2 - <br /> City of Escalon <br /> Cost Pre-Approval <br /> Project 750.3 <br /> June 8,2001 <br /> • June 2000 - Geological Technics and DeT-Tech perforriied a soil vapor.extraction pilot test. <br /> The results of the test indicate that site conditions are favorable for SVE. <br /> • June 2000 - Ms. Lori Duncan of SJC PHS/EHD requested in writing that a work plan be <br /> prepared to define the lateral and vertical extent of the+"groundwater plume at the site. <br /> • June 2000 - GTI prepared a work plan proposing;; the installation of two water table <br /> monitoring wells and one deep, discretely screened monitoring well. <br /> i <br /> • July 2000 - Ms. Lori Duncan of SJC PHS/EHD approved the June 2000 work plan. <br /> • October 2000 - two water table monitoring wells and one deep, discretely screened <br /> monitoring well were installed. <br /> • October 2000 - GTI prepared a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) proposing SVE to remediate <br /> contamination at the site. <br /> • January 2000 - SJC PHS/EHD directed that a revised CAP be submitted to include three <br /> remedial alternatives, cleanup goals(MCLs minimum);and additional technical data. <br /> • January 2000 - GTI submitted revised CAP including elements required by SJC PHS/EHD. <br /> • April 2000 - SJC PHS/EHD approves revised CAP which proposes SVE remedial action. <br /> Proposed Direction of Project <br /> The City of Escalon wishes to complete the proposed SVE system installation in an expedited <br /> fashion. <br /> This opinion of cost includes the following work: <br /> • Install the vapor extraction treatment system (VETS), vapor extraction piping & <br /> control/manifold valves, electrical & natural gas utilities, meters & control panel. <br /> • Startup, operation, maintenance, &monitoring of the VETS. <br /> • Perform groundwater monitoring for one year. <br /> • Test the effectiveness of the extraction system. <br /> • Prepare and submit report of the progress of vapor extraction and the results of monitoring. <br /> Attached are the pertinent documents for this project. <br /> Tentative Schedule for Implementing Work <br /> The proposed schedule for the additional site characterization work and feasibility study is as <br /> follows: <br /> Task Description Completion Data <br /> • Submit APCD Authority to Construct Permit& Annual!Fee May 2, 2001 <br /> • Submit Bids/Cost pre-approval-to the Fund.
