Soil Suitability study Joe DaSilva Dairy BuiQgs Expansion Project
The property owner informed me that only one percolation test hole was required
by the San Joaquin County Public Health Service,Environmental Health Division for the
planned dairy buildings and facilities expansion.
t A thirty-six(36)inch diameter deep test hole was excavated„ identified as DP, at
the location shown on the attached"Building Plan". The deep test hole was excavated to
a depth of 10.5 feet and then the percolate rate for the hole was determined.
The percolation test conducted was performed in accordance with the percolation
test procedures outlined in the "Manual Of Septic Tank Practice
' P "published by the
Department Of Health Education And Welfare and the requirements of the San Joaquin
County Public Heath Service,Environmental Health Division.
IIII Percolation Test Hole No. DP shown on the a
ttached"Building Plan" was tested over a
four-hour period and the results of the four-hour percolation test are tabulated below:
j TEST RESULTS:
Dairyy Expansion Test Hole Percolation Rate Minimum Usable
I Parcel No. Mgutes Per Inch) Dis osalA Area
(Square Feet)
Yes DP 30 12,000+Pits
€ or Sumps
Six(6)shallow(3-foot depth)percolation test holes were also excavated initially in an
attempt to determine if a leach field sewage facility would be a feasible installation. From
these six(6)excavations it was determined that a leach field installation would not be
appropriate at this location. Two shallow test holes were excavated in the Qat field
immediately to the east of the existing milk barn. The precise location of these two(2)
test holes was not determined; hence their sites are not depicted anywhere in this report.
A shallow test hole, identified as SPI, was also excavated in an area that has been used as
a drainage channel in the past and is situate immediately east of the cow corral located to
the south of the existing milk barn. This test hole is shown and identified as test hole SP1
N{ on the attached"Building Plan". A determination g nation was made not to test these three(3)
holes formally beyond their excavation by field observation. Three other shallow test
holes were also excavated.. Two(2)shallow test holes were excavated in the cow corral
located immediately to the south of the existing milk barn. The precise locations of these
two(2)shallow test holes were not determined and their locations are also not shown
anywhere in this report. A third shallow test hole was excavated ed straight south of shallow
test hole, SP1, and deep test hole,DP, in the already mentioned previous drainage
channel and is shown and identified as SP2 on the attached"Building Plan". Preliminary
tests were conducted on these three(3) shallow test holes and all three were consistent in
! performance to that of shallow test hole SP2 which resulted in a water drop of 1/8 of an 5
inch in the last half hour of just a two hour preliminary test. This result does not conform
to the 1/2 inch drop in a thirty(30)minute period(60 minutes per inch percolation rate)
required by San Joaquin County to permit the installation of a leach field sewage facility,
27398 East Dodds Road, Escalon, California 95320 '
i 4
1
i.
