M <br /> Description of the Vicinity: <br /> The facility is the south east 1/4 section of Township 1S, Range 9E, Section 10. <br /> Leaving from downtown Stockton, this facility is approximately 4.17 miles east on <br /> Mariposa Road to Dodds Road, then east 3.96 miles on Dodds Road to the site driveway <br /> which is approximately 0.5 miles west of the intersection where Steinegul Road terminates <br /> at Dodds Road. Leaving from Escalon, this facility is approximately 2 miles north on the <br /> I Escalon-Bellota Road, then east on Dodds Road approximately 0.5 miles to the facility <br /> driveway which is approximately 0.5 miles west of the intersection where Steinegul Road <br /> terminates at Dodds Road. Reference vicinity map, appendix I-D. <br /> The surrounding area is predominantly farming properties. There are several dairies in <br /> the immediate area. The Joe DaSilva dairy at Dodds Road directly south of the proposed <br /> site is considered to be upgradient on the shallow water table. The dairy directly west of <br /> the site is considered to be parallel on the shallow water table gradient with the proposed <br /> site. The Temple Creek Dairy on Carter Road that is owned by George teVelde and <br /> operated by Robert Veneman, his son-in-law, is considered to be downgradient on the <br /> shallow water table. The Joe P. Pereira Dairy, which is on Carter Road, east of the Temple <br /> Creek Dairy and north east of the proposed site is considered to be parallel on the shallow <br /> water table gradient with the proposed site. There are also a number of rice fields <br /> upgradient to the site. <br /> There is a surface drainage ditch called the Cometa Drain, at the east property line that <br /> is a tributary to the Temple Creek. This drainage ditch also collects water from areas <br /> south of the proposed dairy site. The Temple Creek source is to the north east of the site. <br /> The Cometa drainage ditch drains areas from approximately three miles to the east. <br /> The average annual rainfall in the area is purported to be 14.74 inches. The area has <br /> had higher rates of rainfall in recent years. Rainfall records recorded by the A.L. Gilbert <br /> Company, Oakdale station were used as the source for the new dairy site. <br /> Flood Zone: <br /> Flood zone C.
