4WLIVE OAK GEO ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
407 W. Oak St., Lodi, CA 95240 E- (209)369-0375 ❖ logelodi.com
April 13, 2016
Project Number: 1607
John Meek
Reclamation District 2023
1440 Arundel Ct.
Lodi, CA 95242
Regarding: Septic System Recommendations
Venice Island Ferry Tender's Residence
15501 W. Eight Mile Rd., Stockton, CA
Mr. Meek:
Per your request, Live Oak GeoEnvi ron mental (Live Oak) has evaluated the site
conditions and provided septic system recommendations for a new Ferry Tender's
residence to be placed on Venice Island at 15501 West Eight Mile Road, Stockton
(Plate 1). We understand that the residence will be a two-bedroom modular home to be
occupied by a three-person family.
Rodney Estrada, Program Coordinator for Land Use at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD), has indicated that a previous
investigation completed by Neil 0. Anderson & Associates in 1996 found a rapid
percolation rate in the soil near the proposed septic disposal area. Because of this test
result and the shallow ground water in the area, the SJCEHD has recommended that an
engineered septic system be designed for the project.
You informed us that a pad had been constructed in preparation for the septic system
installation. Because the site conditions had changed since the previous investigation,
Live Oak performed four percolation tests to assess the current percolation rates of
various soil layers in the proposed disposal area.
Field Investigation
On April 7, 2016, Live Oak excavated four soil borings with a four-inch hand auger in
and near the proposed septic disposal area for the purpose of conducting percolation
tests. The holes were advanced to 2.45, 2.50, 4.50, and 5.75 ft below ground surface;
the locations of the borings are indicated on Plate 2.
At the same time, Live Oak advanced a boring to first ground water near the percolation
test area. Ground water was encountered at 13 ft below ground surface from the septic
disposal pad.
Environmental Engineering Geology o Geophysics
