Unimproved Lot Directly West of Fisco Hardware Store
A.P.N. 250-140-16
Tracy, CA
f
SUBJECT: Percolation Testing and Nitrate Loading Calculations
INTRODUCTION
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department has requested the following
information for the above-referenced project:
❑ A Site Plan illustrating the orientation of the septic system, on-site domestic well,
building footprint, parking, and stormwater pond.
❑ Anticipated number of employees and customers
❑ Surface/subsurface soil characteristics and depth to groundwater
❑ Percolation Testing
❑ Nitrate Loading Calculations
❑ Nitrate Impact Mitigation
The attached Site Plan illustrates the required improvements, along with the percolation test
location. A project occupancy roster was provided by Mr. Pete Navarra and indicates the
anticipated number of employees and potential customers for the project.
ON-SITE SOIL CHARACTERISTICS
The surface and subsurface soils characterization is based on the shallow perc test conducted on
the subject property and a deep boring to groundwater approximately 400 ft to the north. Surface
soils consist of a sandy, clayey gravel that is very tight and compact. Compactness is due to the
"binding" nature of the gravel. Subsurface soil characteristics are based upon the boring
completed to the north. Reference is made to our Nitrate Loading Study (V.A.R. Report Number
NLS-03.00). The log of boring illustrates a predominate clay soil structure down to the static
c
water table. It is assumed the top two feet of the subject property soil is"fill"brought in from an
unknown location, and the remaining soil profile consists of the encountered clay. The static
water table depth is located at approximately 7.6 ft below grade with the zone of saturation found
at 8.0 ft. Therefore, the top water table is under some confining pressure.
-1-
P.O. Box 3794 1 Turlock,California 95381 1 (209) 668-1403 1 Fax(209) 668-25
