• The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 70 to 75 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat
(Plate 4).
According to the San Joaquin County Community Development Department
(www.co.san-joaquin.ca.us), the subject property is zoned AG-40, general agriculture
with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This zoning designation "is established to
preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of commercial agricultural enterprises."
Existing and ProposedSeptic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
According to the Site Plan prepared by NJ Associates (2018; Plate 2), two septic
systems exist on the Site, one for the main residence and one shared by the caretaker's
residence and the office.
Proposed Septic System
A new septic system is proposed to serve the new restroom building (Plate 2).
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Two permits were identified:
• October 1962 permit for new, temporary, septic system at mobile home. The
system utilized an 800-gallon tank and a 60-foot leach line.
• January 1982 permit for septic system repair at mobile home. The system
utilized a 1,200-gallon tank and two 100-foot leach lines. The permit also notes
that the septic system at the main residence was repaired, with a new 1,200-
gallon tank and two seepage pits, in July 1982.
The permits are included in Appendix 3 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 17 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
• LOGE 1820 Page 2
