i
r7C. TURE SEPTIC SYSTEM OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS
. .ell'since the exact operation of the grocery store, deli and kitchen has yet to be completely
determined, a discussion of wastewater disposal operational parameters cannot be quantified at this time.
Consequently, the EHD may require an addendum to this Study that will discuss and detail a new septic
w system for the proposed operation of the entire structures on the property.
IV. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
SSS§ 5.4/The soils underlying a potential leachfield disposal area to serve the Rosetti's Market
and possible Deli/Kitchen show acceptable permeability at the typical leachline depth of 42
inches, and exceptional permeability at the deeper depths representative of sumps and seepage
pits.
NLS§ 4.2, SSGnilcation
From the soil chemistry test results, it appears that denitrification potential
can be consider medium due to the clay content at the 10 to 15 foot depths where
suppression omay occur. The denitrification potential in combination with
comparatively shallow-rooted landscape plants in the leachfield area should also reduce nitrate
impact by evapotranspiring and mineralizing a percentage of the effluent during favorable weather
times of the year (i.e., April through September).
The well water analytical chemistry results obtained from the on-site domestic well indicate that the
nitrate impact to the underlying aquifers is a surprisingly medium concentration. This is contrary to
what would be expected given the immense amount of agricultural production land area
surrounding the project site. The well water has shown the presence of Total Coliform bacteria for
two separate sampling events. However, after sufficient chlorination, the third sampling event
showed Total Coliform absent. It is recommended that the domestic well be sampled and tested at
least quarterly for Total and Fecal Coliform bacteria.
I
Since the project, in its entirety(Deli and Kitchen operations) are unknown and unquantifiable at
this time, it will be at the request and requirement of EHD of the following: 1.) Additional testing of
the on-site well after chlorination based on two test results for Total Coliform bacteria, 2.) Since
any on-site well will in all likelihood become a public well, EHD may request that a new well be
drilled to meet all requirements, 3.) The installation of a new septic system to serve the commercial
built-out facility separately from the two residential structures, or combine all wastewater from the
entire property into one disposal area, 4.) Reporting design parameters and plans for the proposed
upgrades to the facility.
SS § 6.8. h erage aily Flow is calculated to b 300 gals/da from the public and employee
Res ooms an 300 gpd the two residential structures based o e S.J.C. Sewage Standards.
The Ap icatio at the soil-effluent interface at 42 int epth is 0.472 gallons/ft2/day obtained
from the pert rate of 41.7 min/in.
11
Chesney Consulting
