Our Job Number:,LG00-287
Dear Mike:
Our office performed a soil'suitability/nitrate loading study for the subject project and the
results.are contained in our report dated October 4, 2001. In the report'we concluded that dire to
the presence of clayey soils, an engineered septic system would be required: This letter presents
a summary of our engineering and subsequent recommended septic system desigri.
L Background and Proposal
After conversations with Mike Smith-.Engineering and the results of our numerous test
borings and percolation tests performed on the site, it was decided that the most favorable
location for a septic disposal, field was the northeast corner of the site. Subsequently, two
shallow and one deep percolation tests were performed in this location.- The. location and results
of these tests are contained in our Oct..4 report. The deep pit test was performed using an
alternate method where the full depth of the test hole(25' deep) is percolated and a clear water
rate is determined:
Ah.estimated design flow for the proposed new system is shown'in the following Table 1:
Table 1, Estimated Daily Effluent Flow
Category Effluent usage for each People per day Effluent quantity per category
category
Employees 15 gals 10 10 people x'15 gal/person-day= 150 gal/day .
Customers 10 gals 20 20 people x 10-.gal/person-day=200 gal/day
Daily Flow: 350 gals/day.
3-0
