June 14, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05034A
4-25 Dark brown,moist,clayey sand(slightly SC
cemented
/5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
A visual inspection of the shallow soils from on-site drilling indicates possible potential for
F1 percolation because of the clayey nature of the soils. A percolation test is the best method to
determine the suitability of the soils for a septic disposal area. Please see the next section for
percolation test results. Generally speaking, sandy soils have much greater potential for percolation
than fine-grained or cemented soils.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
/6.1 Percolation Test Locations
F
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 in the appendix
of this report.
✓6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
F1One shallow and one deep percolation test was conducted on each proposed parcel of the Site. For
a total of four shallow and four deep percolation tests.
1 ;
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
Fj
Four shallow soil borings and four deep percolation test holes were advanced on the Site with a
truck mounted deep rock augur rig on and May 27, 2005,May 31, 2005 and June 6, 2005.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
fill water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel' were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea Gravel"
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presatutation of the percolation test holes occurred on June 7, 2005. The depth of water used to
pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the borings.
r
1/6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
i
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact on June S,2005. All of
the percolation test holes, with the exception of the shallow hole on Parcel 4,were found to be dry
on the day of testing. The shallow hole on Parcel 4 contained water in it on they day of testing.
0 9
