Kleinfelder's survey activities conducted on December 3, 2003 are summarized
below:
The roof associated with the brick building is composed of corrugated sheet metal, with several
sections missing and damaged. The roof is supported by wood beams. The malls of the structure
consist of brick and mortar, with a bare and exposed soil floor. All roofing and wall materials of
the building were inspected for suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that might be
impacted or disturbed during planned removalidemolition of the existing structure prior to site
redevelopment.
Three representative bulk samples of the red brick/gray mortar materials were collected along
with one sample of the gray concrete troweled-on coat applied to the interior east wall of the
building. The bulk samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody protocol to an independent
laboratory (Asbestech Laboratory, Carmichael, California) for analysis of asbestos content by
Polarized Light Macroscopy(PLM). The results of inspection and sample analysis are presented
in Table 1. Laboratory results did not detect asbestos in the four samples submitted for analysis.
A copy of this letter report should be submitted to the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution
Control District(SJVUAPCD)prior to building demolition
LMUT.A,TIONS
Kleinfelder performed this survey in accordance with generally accepted standards of care
practiced by other members of our profession in San Joaquin County at the time the work was
completed.
