(3) The depth and gradient of the water table;
(4) The history of past uses in the project area to assess potential problems;
(5) Other information as required by the San Joaquin Local Health District to
determine the cumulative effect of the existing and the proposed development on
ground water contamination:
(1) Oak Ridge Estates adjoins the village of Clements. The entire community is on
individual septic tanks and drainfields. They are spread over about 38 acre area. There
are about 40-50 building in the community - some of which have old systems. To my
knowledge, Clements is not considered a problem area with regards to septic systems.
To the north of the project is a large agricultural field. There are no houses within one
mile. To the east and south is Clements. To the west is more agricultural land. The
nearest home is about 2000 feet away. Figure 1, a USGS map, shows the parcel relative
to Clements.
The soils in the town of Clements are similar to Soil A shown in Figure 2. This soil is
close to the Vina Series. This is in conflict with the SCS. They indicate the soils are
Tokay (HH). Field checking shows the soils are not Tokay.
i
Soil A is well suited for waste disposal. They are well drained and deep. Providing there
are the correct number of lineal feet of disposal trench and the system was constructed
correctly, waste disposal systems in Soil A will perform very well for many years.
The proposed project will contain 38 lots for individual homes. A community treatment
system will be used. Septic tanks will provide primary treatment. A recirculating
gravel filter will be used to remove BOD, suspended solids, and one half of the nitrogen.
During the summer, the treated water will be used to irrigate street trees. During the
winter, a community drainfield will be used. Table 1 shows data from filters in
California and Oregon on removal of nutrients. The first report also has data on this
subject.
A search of county records on 16 existing systems was done. They are at the following
locations: 18315, 18397, 18401 , 18425, 18435, 18437, 18511, 18519,
18529,18623 and 18549 State Hyw 88, 22336 and 22350 Athearn Street, 18370
and 18400 "B" Street, and 22395 Anderson Street. There are no existing systems on
2
1
I
i
