0
May 26, 2003
FOR: Environmental Health Department (EHD)
San Joaquin County MAY 2 6 2003
Mr. Mike Huggins, R.E.H.S., R.D.I. ENVIR014MENT HEALTH
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor PERMIT/SERVICES
Stockton, CA 95202
PROJECT: Proposed Schenone Specialty Foods Company/Chocoholics Manufacturing Facility
Mr. Ernie,S_chenone, Jr. - Applicant
x'"18819 East Highway 88
Clements, CA 95227
i Application Number: PA-02-00428 (SA)
Reference is made to correspondence dated May 6, 2003 sent by EHD to Ernie Schenone regarding
an additional urinal and an additional toilet for the Men's and Women's Public Restrooms for the
proposed facility. The EHD requested documentation to illustrate the demand placed on the
proposed septic system from these additional fixtures.
The domestic wastewater flow calculations for the Chocoholics facility were based upon the San
Joaquin County Sewage Standards and 1.) The historical number of employees of Chocoholics, 2.)
The anticipated number of customers to the new facility on a daily average basis, and 3.) The number
of fixtures for the Customer Restrooms. Flow volumes for the Employee Restrooms were based upon
a maximum daily number of 25 employees at 15 gallons per day. Flow volumes for customer
restrooms were based upon one new toilet fixture each for the Men's and Women's Customer
Restrooms. However, the number of customers on a daily average is anticipated to be 25 per day.
Daily employee and customer numbers who use the restroom will ultimately determine the daily
wastewater flow volumes originating from the facility, not the number of fixtures.
REVISED FLOW CALCULATIONS BASED ON ADDITION OF ONE URINAL AND ONE TOILET:
CALCULATIONS BASED ON V = 1,125 + 0.75 ADF
An addition of one urinal and one toilet to the Customer Restrooms will technically lead to an
additional 300 gallons of wastewater flow per day based on the San Joaquin County Sewage
Standards. The initial Average Daily Flow(ADF) was calculated to be 1,500 gpd, which includes a
1.5 peaking factor. Therefore, the ADF is now proposed to be 1,800 gpd. Considering the sizing of
the chambered filter bed exclusively, we find the following: Since the ADF is greater than 1,500 gpd,
the Calculated Tank Capacity (CTC) is now equal to V = 1,125 + 0.75 ADF or:
1,125 + 0.75 (1,800)= 2,475 x 0.20 Soil Factor(SF based on perc test results) = 495 Lineal Feet of
Leachline (LFLL). 495 x 3 = 1,485 sq ft. The actual filter bed dimensions are to be 40 ft x 45 ft=
1,800 sq ft. Using a SF of 0.25 in lieu of 0.2: 2,475 x 0.25 = 619 x 3 = 1,857 sq ft. Therefore, no
changes in the chambered filter bed are required.
Page 1 f 2
P. O. Box3794 0 Turlock CA 95381 * Oice (209) 668-1403 s Fax(209) 668-2598
i
