L . h'q KLEINFELDER
Our calculation is as follows:
N, = 0.95(2)(70)(1 — 0.35 + 0.5 14.4 = 86.45 + 7.2 = 5.7mg/lasN
0.95(2) + 14.4 1.9 + 14.4
CONCLUSIONS
As shown above, we calculate 5.7 mg/l of nitrate-nitrogen (N) in groundwater resulting from the
proposed leach fields, a result that is below the state standard of 10 mg/l. Based on this
relatively low level of nitrate-nitrogen, we anticipate that the impact on surrounding wells will be
minimal and no remediation will be necessary. The Mokelumne River and Bear Creek are the
nearest natural water bodies to the site and are each located approximately 1 mile from the site,
but are generally not down gradient. Based on this distance and the relatively low nitrate-
nitrogen levels calculated, we anticipate that the impact to water bodies will be minimal and no
remediation will be necessary.
The results of our percolation tests indicate that the proposed septic tank/leach trench sewage
disposal system should adequately serve the facility. A suitable soil condition for septic
percolation tests is defined as a stratum capable of percolating water at a rate of 60 minutes per
inch (min/inch) at a depth of up to 3.5 feet below existing site grade or 30 min/inch for deeper
tests.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the existing
development and on the site conditions. It was assumed that the percolation test results are
representative of the subsurface conditions in the general area.
This completes the scope of work requested. Our work was performed in general accordance
with the standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County.
