Mr. Steven Malcoun
December 9,2003
Page 8
County Soil Survey soil for the area(USDA, 1992). Table 4 presents the soil log for the 14.5-
foot deep soil boring.
Table 4.
Soil Boring Log P-1
(Typical of both locations)
Depth Interval(ft) Soil Type Unified Soil Classification
0-4.5 Dark brown silty sand SP
4.5-11 Dark gray to black fat clay CH
I1-15 Brown fat clay CH
15-18 Brown lean clay CL
18-20 Dark gray lean clay with fine sand CL
L
20-24 Brown lean clay CL
24-25 Brown silty sand SP
Note:Descriptions are representative both boring locations.
Percolation rate is the best measure of septic system applicability. Based on the percolation rate
of the shallow soil zone—described later in the report—, the shallow soil zone has demonstrated
satisfactory percolation rate according to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department. One of the two deep percolation tests also demonstrated a satisfactory percolation
6. rate. The utilization of seepage pits in conjunction with shallow leach lines would maximize the
percolation potential of the area tested.
Since the shallow percolation tests on both parcels achieved a satisfactory percolation rate, the
Site has met the EHD requirement for a satisfactory percolation rate. Construction of the septic
system should follow the requirements of the EHD Sewage Standards.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
r 6.1 Percolation Test Boring Locations
A"shallow"and"deep"percolation test was performed on each of the proposed parcels in a
.. location designated for a sewage disposal system. Please refer to the scaled site plan for the
exact locations (Plate 1).
t_
67,
