Tina Wehrmeister CEQA Determination: Negative Declaration <br /> Project Description <br /> The applicant is requesting a Use Permit to process and package almonds, corn, and walnuts for <br /> consumption. The applicant proposes to utilize an existing almond processing plant, which is currently <br /> involved in bulk packaging of product for non-consumptive purposes. The business will remain a wholesale <br /> `. operation with no retail sales proposed. The proposed change of use will be conducted entirely within the <br /> existing structures. No increase in floor area is proposed. <br /> Currently,the facility operates on a seasonal basis. If the proposed change of use is approved,the facility <br /> will be in operation year round and will run 24 hours a day. The applicant has stated that truck traffic is <br /> expected to increase by two trips per week, and shipping will now be necessary 12 months out of the year. <br /> The facility will employ 23 crew members,not to exceed 13 workers during any one shift. <br /> The applicant has provided a facility layout plan that identifies the current and proposed uses in the existing <br /> structures. The areas which will change in use if the project is approved are as follows: structure number 6 <br /> (16,000 sq. ft.), will be split into two 8,000 sq. ft. sections and will be used for corn processing and roasting <br /> and warehousing; structure numbers 7, 8, and 9 (one building at 16,000 sq. ft.) will be used for nut <br /> processing and roasting;and structure number 21 (15,000 sq.ft.),will be split into three 5,000 sq.ft. sections <br /> to be used for processing, packaging, and warehousing, respectively. The remaining structures will retain <br /> their current use as specified by the facility layout plan. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approval.
