location. The last caller called on 4/2/07 stating Ripon Farm Service did not contain the
spill and it ran onto the ground and the spill was not reported. How can this application
( referral have a negative declaration when this has already happened in the city of Ripon?
Accidents do happen and San Joaquin County has one of the highest cancer rates in the
state. Wouldn't you agree with me if the board thinks this project is safe to all the
residents surrounding the property, the entire 17 acres should be on a cement slab, but
then another problem happens, cement is porous. Ripon Farm Service thinks only where
the tanks will be stored you need a cement slab. I'm saying again, spills drain off the
cement into the ground if they are not contained immediately. This is still happening at
the Ripon location. I have concerned citizens calling me with this type of information.
My back door to truck is chain-link fence. Pipeline between R/R spur(Shelly) &
First row of trees is RIR spur. my home.
Concern #3 — Our resident water wells average 85 feet. Ripon Farm Service is proposing
two 300 foot water wells. Do I need to be concerned about my well running dry or my
water being contaminated by sloppy clean-up work? I would only be approx. 100 ft_
away from one of their wells. Wouldn't you agree Ripon Farm Service should be willing
to meter all the wells in the area to protect their business as well as the homes in the area?
Ripon Farm Service did shut down a business in Ripon because of contaminated water.
How do you live or sell your home when your only source of water has been destroyed?
Concern #4 - Property value. I was not planning on selling my family's home. My future
was to live there the rest of my life. I am 54 years old and I support myself. I cannot
afford house payments by myself at my age. If this proposal passes, I will be afraid of
my well water being contaminated to where I would want to have it tested on a monthly
basis (I cannot afford this expense) and who would want to live in a house in the country
with a chemical storage plant and railroad car in your backyard unloading their cargo?
Can you imagine the noise level? But, I'm afraid I would have to stay living in my home.
Who would buy my property under these circumstances? Maybe someone would, but
would I be able to relocate without putting myself in debt? Is Ripon Farm Service
willing to compensate me for the lost I will be taking in selling my property?
l
- 2 -
