Environmental Health Department requires a soil suitability/nitrate loading study
incorporating proposed staff and customer use, indicating that the area is suitable for septic
tank usage. This must be performed prior to acceptance of the application (San Joaquin
County Development Title, Section 9-1105.2(d)). A nitrate loading study is required, and a
review fee of$445.00 must be paid at time of submittal to Environmental Health
Department.
The sewage disposal system shall comply with the on site sewage standards of San Joaquin
County prior to approval. A percolation test that meets absorption rates of the manual of
septic tank practice or E.P.A. Design Manual for onsite wastewater treatment and disposal
system is required for each parcel. A permit fee of$89.00 per percolation hole is required.
NOTE: More detailed information will be needed concerning the underlying project in order for
Environmental Health Department to evaluate the study and determine the parameters
that should be taken into consideration in the study. How many employees could this
site employ? What type of customer use is envisioned for this site? How many people
could this site support? What type of solid waste and medical waste will be generated,
and how will it be handled?
B. Background water quality needs to be studied to address the potential for this site to produce
water for human consumption that will meet Title 22 of the California Code of Regulation
Standards.
NOTE: The Environmental Health Department has reviewed previous Soil Suitability studies in
this general vicinity and information provided has shown elevated levels of nitrates
above the Maximum Containment Level (45 ppm) in the drinking water.
