F
planations for these high nitrate concentrations are found in the land use: The
ell to the west of the property is near fertilizer(UN 32%) storage and mix tanksin all probability caused this high nitrate concentration of 52 ppm. The east domesticngradient from Stuart's Nursery facility and other agricultural production land which
may have contributed nitrate to the underlying aquifer.
E. SURFACE WATER INFORMATION
Surface water impoundments for the proposed project will include a wash water evaporation
pond(assumed no percolation) and a storm drainage retention basin. This basin will be located
downgradient from the leachfield and may contribute a dilution effect to the effluent in the top
aquifer mixing layer.
III. NITRATE LOADING STUDY RESULTS
A. WASTEWATER FLOW CALCULATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
To adequately determine nitrate-nitrogen loading from the proposed project, wastewater flows
must be defined as accurately as possible. Wastewater flow determinations are based on
information supplied by the "Employees Work Shift- Attachment to Antonini Enterprises Zone
Reclassification and Use Permit" and illustrated below:
EMPLOYEE OFF-SEASON PEAK-SEASON
(October-June) (June- October)
20 Employees: 8:00 A.M.to 5:00 P.M. 2 Additional Employees 7 days per week
Office Monday through Friday 20 Employees 8:00 A.M.to 5:00 P.M.
Monday through Saturday
6 Mechanics on Day Shift 3 Additional Mechanics per shift
Mechanics 3 Mechanics on Night Shift 24 hrs per day-7 days/wk
6:00 A.M.to 9:00 P.M. Mon.through Sat.
30 Trucks which exit the facility between 90 Trucks which exit the facility between
Truck Drivers 3:00 A.M.and 10:00 A.M.and return 3:00 A.M.and 7:00 A.M. and return between
between 2:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.. 1:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M..
It is assumed there will be no cooking within a kitchen or office area and therefore, no need for a
garbage disposal. Consequently, there should be no highly concentrated organic loading. The
characteristics of the wastewater flow will be predominately blackwater from toilets, with a
comparatively small volume of graywater from sinks and a possible shower. Other wastewater
constituents may consist of coffee, juices or other similar type liquids to the system.
4
Valley sig Research
