March 7, 2012
San Joaquin Community Development Dept.
1601 E. Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
Re: Use Permit App # PA-1200011
Planning Commission:
The City of Manteca Solid Waste Division has had a contract with Valley Organics since May
2009. We take our residential and commercial green waste there to be processed. We take an
average of 860 tons of green waste per month to the facility.
We have never had any problems with the facility. Our trucks are weighed coming in and given
a weight tag. They have our stored tare weights in their computer system, saving our drivers
the time and hassle of having to weigh out each time.
They have always accommodated our schedule changes; holidays and shortened days due to
the weather. Normally we pick up garbage on our first run but during the rainy season; we pick
up green waste first. They have always been very accommodating to our schedule changes
Valley Organics has always been very supportive of our Earth Day program; donating compost
to be given away at our event. Our residents bring their own buckets and shovels and "dig"
into the free compost pile. It's a fun day but wouldn't be possible without their support.
The City of Manteca has been very fortunate to form this partnership with Valley Organics. It
has worked out well for both of us.
Rexie LeStrange
Solid Waste Superintendent, City of Manteca
