Hazelton Street
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: PA-1700039 (SA/TE) for 6701 E. State Route 4
Mr. Sanfilippo,
The Stockton Fire Department is in receipt of the planning application request for a time
extension for the proposed development(Alejandro Garcia property). The scope of
project is for the construction of an agricultural parking lot for tractor/trailers and a new
2,500 SF shop building for truck maintenance. To date, we have received a building
permit for site grading (S.J. County BP-00822). We have yet to receive the building
permit for the new shop.
That being said, the Stockton Fire Department is accepting to the time extension
request. However, we do have conditions for the proposed maintenance shop project
that apply to site access, water supply and fire protection requirements. I have
identified the concerns as noted below. Please convey them to the applicant and the
architect of record for review.
a. The project would require a fire hydrant. However, the site is not presently
served by a public water line. We will need to discuss alternatives with the
project architect. Typically, when a fire hydrant cannot be provided, the building
will require automatic fire sprinklers.
b. Access into the property will be via a new 20-foot wide driveway. However, the
Fire Department requires a 25-foot wide driveway flare to allow fire apparatus to
make an adequate turn into the driveway.
c. The driveway terminates at the future shop building and does not reflect a means
for turning vehicles around. A turnaround area will be required.
d. The site plan reflects a chip-seal surface pavement for the proposed new
driveway. This design shall be engineered and proven to withstand harsh
Stockton
NMmeika City
1III
1999
