The initial startup/operation inspection was
performed on February 5, 2002. The VETS has operated for a cumulative runtime of a little
over 225 days. In this period of time the VETS removed approximately 675 gallons of gasoline
from the subsurface. Our contaminant mass estimate calculations made prior to start of the
vapor extraction system estimated that approximately 1600 gallons of gasoline may have been
in the.soil and groundwater of the site.
fi Extracted vapor and groundwater concentrations have decreased significantly since the startup
L of the VETS, a spike test showed no rise in extraction concentrations, groundwater monitoring
shows that contaminant concentration in the wells have significantly decreased, and DO & ORP
measurements show that the site has become oxygenated by the vapor extraction system. These
data indicate that a significant portion of the soil contamination has been removed and the site
does not pose a threat to public health or the environment.
1.0 PURPOSE
This report is being submitted to document the removal and destruction of petroleum
hydrocarbons at the Former Arco Mini Mart site, Escalon, California (Figure 1). This
monitoring report covers from the original installation, startup in February of 2002 and through
December of 2002.
r
L'
