 t
McDowell&Davis TowingV
Vertical Soil Contamination Invest gation
of California for hazardous materials work. The samples shall be analyzed for Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons (gasoline) by 5030 Luft. BTX&E (Benzene, Toluene,
Xylene, and Ethyl Benzene) and MTBE by method 8020 and the Oxygenated
Compounds. The minimum detection limits used for each analyte will be .005
mg/kg for BTX&E, 0.01 mg/Kg for the Oxygenated compounds (0.1 mg/Kg for
tertiary-Butanol), and 1.0 mg/Kg for gasoline. Analyses are to be conducted by
GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc., in Modesto, California.
All rinse water will be contained on site and will be the responsibility of the
property owner for disposal. Drill cuttings are not produced by this method.
2.3 Groundwater Sampling
Groundwater is not expected to be encountered in this phase of work. If it is
encountered and sampled a travel blank, provided by the laboratory, will
accompany the sample vials from the time they are picked up from the lab to the
time they are delivered to the lab. This travel blank will be listed on the Chain of
Custody, but will be analyzed only if all samples contained the same contaminants.
All sampling equipment, including the stainless steel Geoprobe® screen point, used
by sampling personnel, will be disassembled and steam cleaned prior to
commencement of sampling. These procedures will also be followed between each
boring.
The groundwater samples will be analyzed or extracted within 14 days according to
their EPA methods. The samples shall be analyzed for Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons (gasoline), BTX&E (Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, and Ethyl Benzene)
and MTBE by EPA Method 8020, and Oxygenated Compounds. The minimum
detection limits used for each analyte will be .0005 mg/1 for BTX&E, 0.001 mg/l
for the Oxygenated compounds (0.010 for tertiary-Butanol), and 0.05 mg/l for
gasoline. Analysis will be conducted by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. in
Modesto, California.
4
