KLE/NF-ELDER
• \ Bri9Ft FtePle.fli9ht5olutuni.
silts and clays present, the sporadic occurrence of the perched groundwater may
suggest multiple areas of perched groundwater conditions. This is also consistent with
an alluvial and overbank depositional environment. Therefore, channel deposits would
be sporadic in their occurrence and generally be within finer grained overbank
sediments. Additionally, the reason for high concentrations of nitrate above the MCL
upslope (east) of the nursery is unknown, but may be indicative of other sources of
nitrates in shallow groundwater or regional groundwater quality problems.
5.1.3 Deep "Main" Aquifer
Depth-to-water in the three deep monitoring wells during the third quarter monitoring
event ranged from 144.36 (DP-2) to 156.72 (DP-1) feet below the tops of the monitoring
well casings. The groundwater elevations ranged from -22.44 (DP-3) to -16.18 (DP-1)
feet msl.
Depth-to-water in the three deep monitoring wells during the third quarter monitoring
event ranged from 145.15 (DP-2) to 157.43 (DP-1) feet below the tops of the monitoring
• well casings. The groundwater elevations ranged from -22.44 (DP-3) to -16.18 (DP-1)
feet msl.
The gradient of the deep, "main" aquifer was calculated between wells DP-1 and DP-3
using a "3-point analysis." During both quarterly monitoring events, flow direction in the
deep, "main" aquifer was to the southwest at a gradient of 0.003 feet/foot, consistent
with the San Joaquin Flood Control and Water Conservation District data cited in this
report, and with Kleinfelder's site-specific historical data. For additional historical
information regarding the depth-to-groundwater and corresponding groundwater
elevations, please refer to Table 7 in the Appendices. Groundwater contours for the
monitoring event are included as Plate 3.
During the first quarter 2012, Nitrate as N was detected in each of the three deep
groundwater samples at concentrations ranging from 1.3 mg/I (DP-1) to 8.3 mg/I (DP-2).
During the second quarter 2012, Nitrate as N was detected in each of the three deep
groundwater samples at concentrations ranging from 1.4 mg/I (DP-1) to 6.6 mg/I (DP-2).
•
117226.E02/ST012R0696 Page 24 of 43 September 14, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
