KLEINFELDER
agricultural well is located in the northeast corner of Lot 9. Based on a site plan containing
elevations, the site is relatively level with a maximum relief of approximately 3 feet. Site
drainage is typically to the south.
GROUNDWATER
During our field exploration, groundwater was not encountered. Lines of Equal Depth to
Groundwater and Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater contour maps published in
groundwater reports by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
show groundwater levels in the project area ranging from about 90 to 125 feet below ground
surface from Spring 1989 to Spring 1999 with a gradient generally from southeast to northwest.
However, groundwater gradients near any well will be affected by the cone of depression caused
by the removal of groundwater.
Groundwater is currently used at the site for agricultural and residential use. We anticipate
residential wells will be drilled in each of the proposed lots, and that the predominant
groundwater use after construction of single-family homes will be residential use.
The existing potential sources of nitrate in the project area include the existing septic systems for
single-family housing located on and around the site and fertilizers used for agricultural
purposes. No dairies are located adjacent to the project site. The proposed septic systems, as
well as lawn fertilizers, are the anticipated on-site sources of nitrate.
EXISTING SEPTIC SYSTEMS
A representative of our firm searched the SJCEHD files to identify septic permits at parcels in
the vicinity. At the time of our search, no permits were on file for 18882 East Gawne Road.
However, we assume that waste disposal of the existing home is provided by a septic tank/leach
field system. Residential sanitation permits for new septic system installations were on file for
adjacent properties located at 18863, 18911, and 18961 Gawne Road. Copies of these permits
are attached. There were no repair permits in the files. Therefore, to the best of our knowledge,
these septic systems are performing acceptably with no repairs required.
Permit number 88-1524 for the property located at 18863 Gawne Road was dated June 16, 1988.
This permit is for a 1,600-gallon septic tank, two 85-foot-long leach lines, and two 36-inch-
diameter, 25-foot-deep seepage pits.
Permit number 87-3327 for the property located at 18911 Gawne Road was dated September 3,
1987. This permit is for a 1,200-gallon septic tank, two 85-foot-long leach lines, and 33-inch-
diameter, 25-foot-deep seepage pits.
Permit number 87-3136 for the property located at 18961 Gawne Road was dated March 20,
1987. This permit is for a 1,200-gallon septic tank, two 85-foot-long leach lines, and two
2'x10'x12' sumps.
32585.GOI/ST03R1168 August 13,2003
©2003 Kleinfelder,Inc.
