Fnd 5.4) A Log of Boring using the Unified Soil Classification System (U.S.C.S.), as
e 42 inch shallow perc test borings, is found on the EHD PERCOLATION TEST
ET. No cemented silts hardpan soil stratum was discernible at depths down to the
achline trench depth of 42 inches.
(§ 6.1) Percolation testing was conducted in the locations illustrated on the Tentative Map found in
Appendix C. These test locations maintains sufficient distance requirements between wells,
property lines, an irrigation ditch, etc. The following information describes the preparation of the
percolation test boring and the actual percolation testing:
(§ 6.2, 6.3 and 6.5) On November 24, 2008, 1100 hrs, shallow perc test borings of 42 inches were
hand-drilled on proposed Parcel 1 and proposed Parcel 2. The sidewalls of these shallow borings
were scored with a pry-bar and the loose material removed. Two inches of fine gravel was placed at
the bottom and a three-inch perforated PVC pipe was inserted into each test boring. The borings
were then pre-saturated at 1200 hrs with 12 inches of clear water.
(§ 6.4) On November 25, 200$ 0800 hrs,percolation testing commenced. There was no standing
water after the 24-hour soak period in the pert test borings due to the fine sandy-silty type soil, as
illustrated in Table 1 below. Consequently, EHD Perc Test Procedure#2 was conducted for both test
borings.
The last half hour of the test was witnessed by Mike Escotto, R.E.H.S. of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department. Both proposed Parcel 1 and 2 exhibited acceptable percolation at
16.7 min/in and 8.3 min/in, respectively. The maximum acceptable perc rate is 60 min/in for shallow
perc tests. As noted, deep percolation tests (Approx. 10-25 feet deep) representative of sumps or
seepage pits were not conducted because of the favorable (in terms of permeability) surface soils
encountered, representative of leachlines. However, it will be a requirement by EHD that any
proposal to install a septic system on this property will require seepage pits.
(§ 5.4 and 6.8) The following Table illustrates the proposed Parcel number, septic system structure to
be installed, proposed acreage, post soak period status and perc test results for the respective perc test:
TABLE 1
PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS AND RELATED DATA
PROPOSED PARCEL PROPOSED SHALLOW PERC TEST I POST SOAK I PERC TEST
SEPTIC SYSTEM ACREAGE DEPTH PERIOD RESULTS
STRUCTURE STATUS
Parcel 1 5.00±Acres Gross 42 INCHES No Standing 16.7 min/in
Leach iwe aad Seepage Pits 4.77±Acres Net Water in Hole
Parcell 5.007 Acres Gross 42 INCHES No Standing 8.3 min/in
iRachilaea and Seepage Pits 4.414±Acres Net Water in Hole
Page-3-
Chesney Consulting
