Ground Water Information
Depth and Gradient
Live Oak reviewed ground water elevation information available from the San Joaquin
County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to determine the ground water
levels near the Site. Data from spring and fall of 2009 were the most recent available
from this source. According to an analysis of these maps (Plates 5 and 6), ground
water elevation is 0 to 15 feet below mean sea level; ground water flows down to the
northwest at a rate of 7.7 to 14.2 feet per mile in the vicinity of the Site.
Given that the ground elevation of the Site is approximately 90 feet, the depth to water
below the Site is estimated to range between 90 to 105 feet, depending on the season.
Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
The Soil Suitability Study isC not intended to be an investigation into ground-water
contamination sources, and s- ch investigation was conducted. Many sources can
contribute to ground water contamination, including leaking underground storage tanks,
agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems, and storm water infiltration. Agricultural
activities and the use of septic systems in the area are known ground water
contamination sources with the potential to impact the Site.
n-Site Wells
Nowells exist on the Site. No well permits for the Site were identified at the San/
Joaquin ounty Environmental Health Department.
Water Sample
(No ter sample was collected from the Site.
.Soil Profile and Geologic Information
The Site can be found on the Geologic Map of Califomia, San Jose sheet (Rogers,
1966). It is depicted within map units of Pleistocene nonmarine deposits and stream
channel deposits (Plate 7).
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the USDA Web
Soil Survey to be composed of Madera sandy loam and Madera-Alamo complex, with a
small area of Galt clay north of the canal (Plate 8) (USDA, 2009). The table below
presents some selected properties of these soils:
LOGE1018 Page 3
