IMPACT Public Utilities—Demand for Electricity and Natural-Gas Supply and Infrastructure. The project would
4.5-5 generate additional demand for electricity and natural-gas supply and conveyance. Because the proposed
project identifies joint trench lines to accommodate transmission facilities, and because the service providers
have sufficient supply, adequate electricity and natural gas would be provided to the proposed project.A
less-than-significant impact would occur.
The proposed project would generate additional demand for energy that can be reduced by energy conservation.
San Joaquin County's Draft Mountain House Community Energy Conservation Report(1997) identifies existing
energy-conservation aspects of the MHMP and recommends building and design requirements that would
enhance energy efficiency. A copy of this report is provided in Appendix L. Even with conservation, energy
demand would increase with the development of the project site.Energy supply is not acquired by pre-established _
right; instead, energy is acquired on the market based on demand. As such,it is expected that there would be
adequate electricity and natural gas for purchase to be supplied to the project site.
MID would provide electrical service to the project site. Primary electrical distribution voltage is available in the _
joint trench facility at the intersection of Central Parkway and DeAnza Boulevard with Mascot Boulevard
(MacKay&Somps 2004 a).This joint trench system,which also includes natural gas pipelines,telephone lines,
and cable television lines, would be extended to areas south of Grant Line Road along Central Parkway and
DeAnza Boulevard to serve the project site.
PG&E would provide natural-gas services to the project site. Existing infrastructure that would serve the —
project site includes two existing"backbone"natural-gas transmission pipelines, an existing regulator station,
and three existing PG&E natural-gas transmission pipelines that are located in the existing joint trenches in the
west side of Mountain House Parkway and in Central Parkway and DeAnza Boulevard,to as far south as _
Mascot Boulevard. These pipelines serve the MHMP development area. Extensions to the existing pipelines
would be constructed along Central Parkway and DeAnza Boulevard forming a connecting loop on the project
site. Given that there would be adequate transmission infrastructure to serve the proposed development, this _
impact would be less than significant.
Mitigation Measure 4.5-5: Public: Utilities—Demand for Electricity and Natural-Gas Supply and Infrastructure.
No mitigation is required.
4.5.5 RESIDUAL SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS —
No residual significant impacts would occur with implementation of the mitigation measures identified in this
section.
EDAW College Park at Mountain House Specific Plan III Draft EIR
Public Utilities 4.5-36 San Joaquin County
