driving alone to work. It emphasizes the movement of people and goods, rather than motor vehicles, and so gives
priority to public transit, ridesharing, and nonntotorized travel, particularly under congested urban conditions.
J
There are many different TDM strategies with a variety of transportation impacts. Some improve the
transportation options available to consumers. Some cause changes in trip scheduling, route, destination,or mode.
Others reduce the need for physical travel through more efficient land use,or transportation substitutes.TDM is
an increasingly common response to transportation problems.Although most individual TDM strategies affect
only a small portion of total travel, the cumulative impacts of a comprehensive TDM program can be significant.
The Mountain House community has adopted a set of TDM plans as documented in Mountain House New
Community—TOMProgram and Transit Plan, dated April 3, 1997. Table 4.11-10 is a summary of TDM
measures and action items of the plan.
Table 4.11-10
Summary of Mountain House TDM Measures and Triggers
TDM Measures Action Items and Trigger Points
TDM Coordinator MHCSD to provide a TDM coordinator as soon as the Town Center on-site
MHCSD office is occupied. The County can determine, based on these reports, whether the adopted trigger
points or the project's fair share of costs should be revised to ensure the timely construction of needed
improvements. —
Transit Service
The goal of the Mountain House transit program is to provide convenient and cost-effective transit alternatives to
automobile use for all segments of the community, particularly for commuter trips.Transit service is planned to include
commuter express, local, and neighborhood transit service to the MHMP neighborhoods.
EDAW College Park at Mountain House Specific Plan III Draft EIR —
Transportation 4.11-28 San Joaquin County
