This open space feature is a major project amenity, providing for passive
and active recreational uses for residents and visitors. The Linear Park also will
provide a convenient way for project and area residents to travel to local
destinations by means other than automobiles. A multi-use trail will be included
on a portion of Prosperity Street south of the project area, tying the Neighborhood
D Linear Park into a system of trails leading to a number of services and
recreational amenities within the Mountain House New Town(see Figure 6.1,
Linear Park Connections.)
The Linear Park parcel north of Teixeira Avenue is approximately 2.0 acres.
South of Teixeira Avenue, there are approximately 2.6 net acres of Linear Park
within the project area, with another 0.5 acres, more or less, expected to be
included from the D5 and D6 sub-neighborhoods. Total net acreage of the Linear
Park north of Grant Line Road is expected to be approximately 5 acres. (Note
that acreage differs in Figure 2.1 because zoning boundaries go to the centerline
of local and collector streets.)
6.2 Pedestrian and Bicycle Access
1. Public pedestrian and bicycle access to the Linear Park shall be provided from
the multi-use trail on the west side of De Anza Boulevard(the terminus of the
Linear Park), from a local residential street in sub-neighborhood D1, from
Teixeira Avenue, and from Prosperity Street, the residential collector at the
west edge of the project area. Additional connections to the multi-use trail
within Neighborhood D are expected to be made from sub-neighborhoods D5
and D6.
2. Access to the Linear park from project residential areas shall be provided by
numerous paths linking the multi-use trail in the Linear Park to project paseos,
shared drives, and circulation streets (see Figure 2.3, Pedestrian Circulation).
6.3 Vehicle Access
1. There shall be no public access provided to the Linear Park for motorized
vehicles.
2.
