i
Buck&Mendoza Property July 20,2005
Phase I Environmental Assessment
Page:5
Demolished Structures Demolished Structures
Assessor's records address the current structure and demolished farm buildings dating
back to the building permit issued in 1930 for the residence and associated buildings
(Appendix A). The records indicate that the property was used for a chicken ranch but
had a hay barn possible for cattle_ No reference to underground fuel storage or heating oil
was made in the building records. Nothing remarkable was noted during the inspection
and no enviro ental concerns were documented other than a large amount of refuse to
be re The property owner was not interviewed and her attorn of returned
our one calls at the time of this report. The tenant has indicated t a o u derground
fuel storage tanks or above ground fuel storage have been discovered since demolition
and cleaning of the parcel began.
Aerial photographs and assessor's photographs were reviewed back to the 1960's and
depicted a similar picture as to the current conditions of the properties and surrounding
area. Most of the existing structures were present in the 1960's through the 1990's
photographs. The aerial photographs were included in this report because of the clarity
and resolution (Appendix B). Other photographs reviewed were not clear enough to
reproduce.
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and Fire Department were
contacted to review any hazardous materials files but no files were available.
Business directories list the residences at this site in later editions but know nearby
industry. Topographic maps show a similar picture as to the current conditions.
Historical Sanborn maps were reviewed as far back as 1888. This portion of San Joaquin
County was not depicted on the maps indicating an area of little commercial development
prior to 1950.
