MOUNTAIN HOUSE PROPOSED ALTAMONT HEIGHTS TENTATIVE MAP 4. ENVIRONMENTAL CHECKLIST
4.14 RECREATION
I
h) Does the project include recreational facilities or require the construction or expansion
of recreational facilities which might have an adverse physical effect on the
e
environment?
The implementation of Specific Plan III would include a 31-acre community park and 11
acres of neighborhood parks (EDAW, 2005a). The development of these community and
neighborhood parks would occur concurrently with residential development to meet the
'E requirements of the MHMP. The neighborhood and community parks would incorporate
active and passive recreation facilities. Active facilities include a community pool and
clubhouse (at the community park), baseball fields, soccer fields, and basketball courts.
Passive facilities include open landscaped areas, turf areas, and picnic tables. Development
of these facilities are considered beneficial environmental effects if no endangered or special-
status p
status wildlife species are impacted where the recreational facilities are located to the extent
that mitigation measures cannot reduce the impacts to less-than-significant levels. Refer to
Section 4.4: Biological Resources for discussion of potential impacts on wildlife.
In compliance with Section 7.2.5, Private Recreation, of Specific Plan III, the project
applicant proposes to provide landscaping, including trees, shrubs and groundcover, along all
streets and cul-de-sacs as shown in Figure 2-6. A Class III bike route would be provided
along F Street on the eastern boundary of the proposed project.
Mitigation Measures
The environmental impacts of developing new parks and recreational facilities to serve the
proposed project would be less than significant. No mitigation measures are required.
SOURCES OF INFORMATION
EDAW, 2005a. College Park at Mountain House, Specific Plan III, Revised Draft, June 10.
EDAW, 2005b.
