LESD believes this school will be at capacity within two years.
LESD plans to construct and operate two new K-8 schools, one each in Neighborhoods E
and G in the Specific Plan I area, each with a capacity for 850 students. The new school in
Neighborhood E is-anticipated to be operating in 2006. Until this K-8 school is constructed,
students from the proposed project would be bussed(or driven) to the operating K-8 schools
in the Specific Plan I area (EDAW, 2005b).
$ A new high school (to be named Mountain House High School) would be constructed at the
southeast corner of Central Parkway and Mascot Boulevard as required by the MHMP.
Mountain House High School will have an ultimate capacity for 2,400 students and will be
built in phases to accommodate growing student population from the ongoing residential
development at the Mountain House Community, including the proposed project- The first
phase of Mountain House High School is planned to accommodate 650 students. The Tracy
Unified School District(TUSD)would staff and operate the high school and will determine
! when the school will be constructed.
Until Mountain House High School is built and operating, high school students residing in
the Mountain House Community would be bussed(or driven) to either West High School or
Tracy High School located in Tracy- However, these two high schools are currently over
capacity and should not accept additional students. TUSD has acknowledged this problem
and plans to use additional portable buildings as classrooms on an interim basis until
Mountain House High School opens. TUSD would determine the location of temporary
facilities as the need arises or in the event that construction of Mountain House High School
is delayed (EDAW, 2005b).
4-66
