Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95295-6232
Attn: Mr. Don De La Torre
Dear Mr. DeLaTorre;
As you have requested, following is an explanation of the operation of Lanting
Hay Dealer, Inc. /Gardner Trucking, Inc.
We have been in the hay business for approximately 25 years. We deal closely
with th _ hay growers In Blythe and Imperial in that the hay is grown to our
specifications according to moisture content, leaf condition, bale weight, etc.
The farmers are paid in advance either 90% or 100% for the hay while it is
still in the field, at which time it becomes our commodity. Not only is our
involvement in the growing of the hay, but we also deliver it to the dairymen
who have purchased it. We then bill and collect for it. A total agricultural
operation.
With the movement of the dairies from southern California to central and
northern California, we are also expanding to the north to satisfy our long-
time customers.
The property we wish to purchase, located at 6700 W. Grantline Rd. , Tracy,
is presently a tomato grading station where tomatoes are hauled in and graded
according to their quality. During tomato season this piece of property is ex-
tremely busy with numerous trucks going in and out daily for the grading of
tomatoes.
Our operation will involve supplying dairies with hay in central and northern
California. Quite often the hay is brought directly to the dairy but on
occasion can be left for a day or two at the property location. To make the
business of supplying dairies with hay profitable, we have a back haul of
cartons that are used for farmers all over California. These cartons are
used for packaging of lettuce, melons, strawberries and other fruits and
vegetables. This again is very much agriculturally related.
Let it also be noted that the owners of the tomato station do not own the
tomato commodity. Whereas we do own our hay commodity and are very much
involved in the production of it.
The amount of trucks we would have at this location at one time would be far
less than the number of trucks going in and out during tomato season.
At our present facility in Chino, San Bernardino County, we operate the
a.o. BOX 747 • CHINO.CALIFORNIA 91708-0747 • BUS(909)830-5600 • FAX(Wg)930-5616
