LOCAL GROUNDWATER INFORMATION
Fdepict
the depth to groundwater, and therefore the groundwater elevation is so variable in this
e groundwater maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control District do not
e lines of equal depth and equal elevation. This generally applies to the entire west and
southwest portions of San Joaquin County. The 1992 Lines of Equal Elevation Map is the only
map to have illustrated lines of equal elevation nearest to the subject property. It is generally
assumed, but not always, that the groundwater flows toward the San Joaquin River in areas near
the River. The 1992 Lines of Equal Elevation Map depict this. Additionally, groundwater
typically follows the contour of the land surface, and as referenced above, the land declination is
in a northeast direction toward the River. According to E.H.D. Staff who have knowledge of this
area, the groundwater is tremendously variable with gradients changing dramatically due to
apparent changes in geology, irrigation well pumping and River hydraulics.
Perched water table conditions cannot exist at higher elevations than the static water table since
the water table is so shallow. There is no potential for future septic impact to surface waters,
provided that for the current, and future systems, applicable distance requirements are followed.
The current on-site systems should be closely monitored, particularly during the rainy season to
ensure that there is no inundation. There is the possibility of the surfacing of effluent from
inundated conditions caused by flooding.
The Environmental Health Department stipulated that for this study, the Public Water Supply
files pertaining to the Bogetti facility must be reviewed, specifically for general overall
compliance and for nitrate concentrations. From the review, it was determined that the domestic
well water is in compliance for water quality; however, there were pipe leakage issues that
required remediation. The following chart illustrates the nitrate concentrations found in the
Orchard Restaurant well head since 1980. The gap in data originates from the fact that the
Registered Environmental Health Specialists who monitored this area were promoted and/or
transferred to other departments.
DATE NITRATE CONCENTRATION SAMPLE POINT
AS NO
May 3, 2001 4.6 Orchard Restaurant Well Head
December 3, 1996 3.4 "
May 2, 1996 6.4 "
January 20, 1993 7.4 "
November 18, 1985 21.0 "
December 13, 1983 12.0 "
October 13, 1981 11.0 "
June 6, 1980 8.9 "
Page -4-
Ckzmey ConsuCting
