Surface and Subsurface Contan6tion Report*APN: 207-290-03& 16*Parcel 1%1. 1, 2, 3,4&Des. Rem.
HANFORD SANDY LOAM
Hanford Soils in Parcels 1 and 2 are recent alluvial deposits from grinitic and
similar quartz bearing miscellaneous rock sources. They are developed under medium to
low rainfall, which occurs during mild winters followed by long dry summers. They are
neutral to slightly basic in reaction and are medium to fine textured. They are similar to
Grangeville soils except that they are less compactin the upper topsoil and have better
drainage.
The surface soil of Hanford Sandy Loam is brown to light brown, open and
permeable. The surface soil contains transparent isinglass. It can be readily worked into a
seedbed; drainage is good and the reaction is about neutral.
The subsoil begins at about 10 to 15 inches, is slightly lighter brown but
otherwise has about the same characteristics as the surface. Normally the soil is six feet
or more in depth.
Hanford soils occupy level to gently sloping alluvial fans and flood plain
topography. They are smooth and easily irrigated.
Normally drainage of both surface and subsoil is good and erosion is negligible.
These soils produce grass, herbaceous plants, with willows, cottonwoods and oaks
where moisture is available.
These soils are highly valued for agriculture and produce a wide variety of crops.
Most soils are irrigated.
Hanford Sandy Loam has a Storie rating of 95 percent and is one of the most
productive soils in San Joaquin County.
MADERA SANDY LOAM
Madera soils in Parcels 1 and 2 are brown or grayish-brown, maturely developed
terrace soils derived from mixed but predominately granitic material. They are developed
under conditions of low rainfall (9 to 15 inches), mild winter temperatures and long, hot,
dry summers.
The surface soil to a depth of about eight (8) inches is a easily crumbled brown
sandy loam with granular structure and has a moderately acid reaction (pH 5.3). The
moisture equivalent is 12.81 percent.
Tne T Vitra Tr -----99707 rirnnmc Rnnd -----Oakdale-----Cni;fnmin 99'im (+
