Soil Suitability Study MS-92-123 , Parcel Nos . 1 and 2
Fxistinr Use :
The present 20 . 10 acre undivided parcel is not being farmed
now and is presently undeveloped and has no agricultural crops on
it . There is presently only grass growing on it .
Soil Profile Test :
An initial Soil Profile Hole was dug to a maximum depth of
10 ' 06" and subsequent deep percolation test hole excavations dug to
a maximum depth of 11 ' -08" are used for Soil Profile reporting. The
initial Soil Profile Hole is identified as SPI and the deep
Percolation test holes are identified as P12 and P22 in this
report . See the attached "Field Percolation Data Sheets"and "Parcel
Ulan" as well as the text of this report for specific soil layer ,
character and location details . On the "Field Percolation Data.
Sheets , T have noted the soil to be a gray clay and a red loam as
the two basic soil types observed. From the ground surface to a
depth of about 2 ' 06" , the soil was noted to be a gray clay. From
2 ' 06" below the ground surface to a depth of about 7 ' 06" , the soil
was noted to be a red clayey loam and from 7 ' 06" to a maximum depth
below the ground surface of 11 ' 08" . the soil was Noted to be a red
sandy loam and was noted to be more sandy and granular at the
deepest six (6) inches of depth excavated at each of the test
holes . The University Of California publication entitled "Soils Of
San Joaquin County. California" by Walter W. Weir , dated June 1952 .
indicates that this project is on the border line of two different
soil types that exist in the general area and could be either
Fresno fine sandy loam or Columbia sandy loam.
No water was encountered in excavating any of the Soil Profile
or shallow or deep Percolation Test Holes to a maximum depth of
1 1 ' 08" . The San Joaquin County Flood Control And Water Conservation
Map entitled "Lines of Equal Depth To Water Wells" dated Fall ,
1990 , shows the water to be in excess of 60 feet below the ground
surf aee.
Percolation Tests :
Two (2) shallow percolation test holes were excavated to about
a 3-forst depth and tested. These were Percolation Test Hole Nos .
P11 and P21 . The location of these test holes are shown on the
attached "Parcel Map" . Two ( 2) deep percolation test holes were
also excavated . These were Percolation Test. Hole Nos . P12 and P22 .
The location of both deep percolation test holes are also shown on
the attached "Parcel Map" .
Tony J . Zeiter 3
